I just got all my speakers and about to pull the trigger on the Onkyo SR601. The living room is 13'x19'x8' with one of the 19' walls almost completely open to the dining room. My question is, does this unit have enough juice to power all my speakers?
My new system:
Fronts: Paradigm Monitor 9, 94dB @ 8 ohm
Center: Paradigm CC-370, 93 dB @ 8 ohm
Sorrounds: Onix Rocket RS-150, 88 db @ 6 ohm nominal
And the Onkyo specs as tested by December's Home Theater Mag:
Onkyo SR601
================================================== ==========
2 Channels @ 8ohm reaches 89.6 Watts at 0.1% Distortion
2 Channels @ 8ohm reaches 105.0 Watts at 1.0% Distortion
2 Channels @ 4ohm reaches 141.7 Watts at 0.1% Distortion
2 Channels @ 4ohm reaches 170.9 Watts at 1.0% Distortion
5 Channels @ 8ohms reaches 69.0 Watts at 0.1% Distortion
5 Channels @ 8ohms reaches 85.6 Watts at 1.0% Distortion
So should I dip into my TV fund to get a 701 or maybe even a Denon 2803 or 3803?
