Same here. It was the principle of the matter. It really wouldn't have bent me out of shape as much as some viewers watching ``WKRP,'' since I couldn't remember the music from the show...but after hearing how badly butchered it was going to be. I saved my money by canceling my pre-order, and spent it on other shows.

[IMG] We get it- Despite not actually watching any shows made in the last two decades, you hate them all.

Not just the shows, but the people who watch them as well...

    * big salute for that one *

I did buy the incomplete Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman DVD set recently since it was own sale. Blame it on curiosity. I don't remember it too much so the changes won't bother me. Now, WKRP? I would take it for free but then I'd ebay it unopened. They can keep that mess.

For those of you who already bourght the season 1 of WKRP, can anyone tell me how the extras/interviews were? Was Gary Frank and Jan Smithers interviewed? They weren't on the second version of the program, and I was wondering how they were doing?

    Sincerely,

    James Smith

Whoa, what's with the sudden need to bash "Buffy"?!? I am a fan of both "WKRP" and "Buffy", and both are very smart, but I'd actually give the tip of the hat to "Buffy" in that regard. But I digress - no need to blame another, successful-on-DVD series for the apparent failure of another.

I did manage to enjoy "WKRP" season one on DVD, and am hoping for more. Preferably intact, of course...

Anyone who doesn't realize how complex and intelligent a show Buffy was has clearly never seen it. And as much as I love WKRP it was hardly Hamlet.

Put me with the crowd who had to be "corrected" about Buffy.

Hear, hear! ``Buffy'' was a great show...I watched it very sporadically when it aired, and then rediscovered it on DVD and loved it! [IMG]

People were talking about Buffy and my thought was, "That sucky movie?" [IMG]

The show is way above the film. Although I need to give the film another go sometime.

Any info on the second season of WKRP coming to DVD? If I am not mistaken, April will mark a year since the first season was released.

No, sorry to say I actually did "try" watching them before determining I hated them. And I'm also sorry to say that contrary to popular belief, snarky comments and oh so hip constant pop culture references doth not make an intelligent show. Although it's much easier to blame my distaste for most modern television on not having been exposed to it. On the contrary, it is directly related to my exposure, not due to a lack of it. And hearing all of these wonderful Buffy reviews, I tried the show several times and found it to be quite the opposite of intelligent.

Yes, it's really no comparison to WKRP, which may be the single most intelligent sitcom in the history of television. No Shakespeare, true, but still genius unlike some fast talking female vampire hunter. Duh. [IMG]

Apparently Fox was thinking of releasing it but put it on hold when they realized that they realized that the music was too expensive to keep in but too much bad publicity to take out.

And how did this become the WKRP-vs.-Buffy thread? Okay, I'll play: Buffy was excellent.

Yes, let's not compare the two series. They were both excellent shows.

And to attack BUFFY just shows that you probably weren't watching it. It was one of the smartest, most critically acclaimed shows on TV. The reviews were even better than those of WKRP.

So, while you are waiting for WKRP season 2, go out and watch BUFFY season 1.

Just picked it up at Target for $19.99

Don't know if that's a good or a bad sign.

The entire first season is also on Hulu.com, but apparently those are straight from the DVD, with the music subs. Apparently it is a legit site though, seems similar to In2TV.com.

Yes, it is a legit site that NBC/Universal and Fox teamed up on creating. Very nice interface, like YouTube but with legit clips of entire episodes.
