Who here thinks enhanced CDs, (you know the ones with the music videos, bios and stuff you can play on your computer)have degraded sound quality due to the enhancements taking up some of the size of the CD?

Phil, I don't see how the Enhanced CD section should in any affect the sound quality. The audio is still encoded at 16/44.1. There is no variable compression with CD like what we see with Dolby Digital or DTS to accommodate video. In short, the CD audio is unaffected by the inclusion of the Enhanced CD feature. If the sound quality is lackluster, perhaps the recording, remastering, authoring, etc. is just not up to snuff.

I have both the enhanced version and the tour edition of Sheryl Crow's "The Globe Sessions" and I don't here any difference in audio.

Mind you, I also have the dts-es version and it's absolutely amazing!

Hopefully "C'mon C'mon" will be released in surround sound.

    Nope they dont...

From what i know, unlike DVDs, CDs dont use compression, its straight PCM... So they cant really 'compress' the audio more like they can with DD/DTS tracks on DVDs. The CD audio is raw data. If the CD didnt have the data on it, but was the same lengh, it wouldnt do anything to the audio...
