I heard great things about this system and i really want to get it. The only thing that's stopping me is the things i heard about this system being used to play music. I love music and listen to it all the time, mostly trance and rap. I would hate to end up with a system that won't perform well when playing music. So does the 5.2 really suck in that area or is it just average?

Since you are listening to Rap and trance this should do you very well. I've installed a few of the Energy Take 5 systems for a couple of people that liked "Bass Heavy" music and the most important part of the speaker system for them was the sub woofer. One customer bypassed the Energy sub inorder to go to a Velodyne sub and the other was overly satisfied with the Energy 10" sub and the overall sound of the speaker system.
Let me know how it turns out..

I have the 5.2 system with the 8.2 sub. It is phenomenal for movies. The soundstage is seamless and detailed.
As far as music ... It is a little lacking I think, especially in the bass area (this will be important to you).
You might want to match the 5.2 with another sub for your needs.
Check the link in my signature for the setup ...

Max, I haven't heard the Take 5.2 system, but I auditioned the original Take 5 system last year and was not at all impressed with it for music. It was a good set-up for movies, however. My personal feeling is that satellites generally don't work well for music. I went with an Energy e:XL set-up (e:XL 16 bookshelf from mains and surrounds and e:XL-C center speaker) instead of the Take 5 system. While the e:XL speakers are better than the Take 5s for movies, the bigger improvement, in my opinion, is with music.

IF you can spare the money MAx, I say get the Energy XL 16's as well or look at PSB ALpha's if you decide to get into bookshelf size speakers.
