OK, so I'm watching season 3 of SOAP and I'm really enjoying Bert Campbell (Richard Mulligan) -when I remember that he did a funny sitcom where he was a widowed doctor with 2 daughters: "Empty Nest"

Dinah Manoff & Kristy McNichol, and even Estelle Getty were in it.

I keep on hoping if Golden Girls does really well, they will eventually release Empty Nest.

You're right, we have not heard a single rumor about Empty Nest coming to DVD.

I would adore owning it, though!

I won't buy Golden Girls but I will buy Empty Nest, it has a wider market.

I recorded the show from season 1 up to Kristy's departure. Felt the show just lost it after that. Park overall while good, could not hold up the show and the 3rd sister just did not have the dynamic personality of Barbara played by Kristy. The chemistry was so good between the Dinah's and Kristy's characters it was sad to see her depart. The show also had a line up of guest stars that went on to other things big things (like Blossom, Nana Visitor, Jeffrey Tambour) just to name a few.

I somehow don't think so. I don't even think Empty Nest is on in re-runs. That being said, I would buy the Estelle Getty seasons.

Well, it would be nice to see a few Empty Nest or Nurses episodes included on upcoming sets of The Golden Girls, even if they are the "crossover" ones (such as Hurricane Night).

I know it is a different company, but the inclusion of the Simon & Simon crossover episodes on Magnum Season 1 was a neat idea, and as a result, re-sparked interest in seeing Simon & Simon on DVD. Perhaps they could put some on Golden Girls Season 3 as a "taste".

How would I (or David/Gord) go about finding out who owns this? It's probably changes hands and been in more than one acquisition.

Guess we need a starting point here, to know who to e-mail/write.

    Thanks,
    ~Rob

I don't know if I agree. The Golden Girls are a rerun phenomenon, the show just won't go away in syndication. I haven't seem Empty Nest in years, but I do remember liking it.

As it was a spin-off of "The Golden Girls" (sort of, the Westons were neighbors of the Girls) I'd imagine it's also owned by Touchstone Television (Disney).
