can anbody tell me how to back up my messages in Outlook Express? i got caught with a KLEZ virus, and while i'll be using Eodora in the future, i still want to reference my past emails, so i'll have to back them up before i re-install everything.

thanks

With OE, there is not really a good way to back all the emails up at once. If you do an export, then it has to be imported by OE. Since you plan on using Eudora after the cleanup, I suggest just saving each necessary message seperately, as a text file.

The email folders are *.dbx files, the location of which varies by operating system, but the file names generally correspond with the Outlook Express folder names (Inbox.dbx, Sent Items.dbx, etc.) You can back them up, reinstall, then restore them over the "new" ones.

Even if you switch to Eudora, you'll need to keep OE handy to read your old emails in the *.dbx files.
