Most of the reviews I've read have mentioned that the score is one of the worst things in the movie. But, I guess I shall wait and see.

What's the music that's been playing the majority of the trailers (1st one) and TV ads? Is that the main theme?

Actually the one that most people liked the most from the trailers - Lunatic Calm's Leave you Far Behind - is actually from the Matrix soundtrack. The newest trailer has the song Hero from Chad Kroeger on it...which is the main song from the Spider-man movie. Aerosmith is doing the Main Title song for the movie though.

The music I was refering too is Pompeii from E.S. Posthumus. Pretty cool bit of music.

And I listened to the sample of the Aerosmith theme on CDNow and it is horrific. Should have just used the Ramones. That better only show up in the end credits.

"Pompeii" (from the Spidey trailer) is a great bit of music. There's another track called "Nara" which many of you may recognize from the trailer for Unfaithful.
I've just discovered this CD tonight and I'm spreading the word!

E. S. Posthumus - Unearthed
It all sounds like movie music...and it's fantastic.

And of course, the first trailer for Minority Report used Tikal while Planet of the Apes used both Pompeii and Menouthis.

The whole CD sounds like a bid for studios to hire them IMHO, but that's not necessary a bad thing. It's obvious that some of the orchestration and chorals could benefit from a stronger/grander performance, but it gets the message across. I'm betting that we'll see them listed as a film composer pretty soon.

BTW, any idea when the Spiderman score will be released specifically?
