Rufus Sewell shows up on the small screen as Jacob Hood, a science guy who helps the FBI solve crimes, often coming up with the solution, wait for it, at the eleventh hour. Marley Shelton co-stars. CBS put the show in the cushy timeslot after CSI on Thursdays at 10 p.m. EDT.

As a science person myself, I was intrigued by the concept of it, and I liked a few of Sewell's other roles, but wasn't very impressed with the first episode. I'll give it another try, but I feel like it'll probably get deleted from its season recording.

I liked it. Subject matter could have been better, but I like the characters much better than Fringe. I have liked Rufus Sewell since Dark City, and the female agent is really HOT!!

The chemistry between the two of them is good, and there were some laugh out loud moments for me, so the writing is good so far.

Can't wait for next week's episode.

Was kind of bored with the second episode tonight, and the reveal at the end didn't make any sense with the character we've seen, and I don't buy "I was faking before all those things that don't make sense." Reminds me of the old movie Murder by Death, where he rants about how detective novels always leave something out to make it impossible for the reader to figure out.

Anyway, there's not really anything about this that draws me in yet. I might give it another episode, but its just too dry, and honestly there's nothing this supposed genius has done in either episode so far that a normal detective wouldn't have done really. I do like the actors though, but there's a bunch of other cop/ investigation shows that I like more, so this one will get pushed off if it doesn't get more entertaining soon. (The aforementioned Fringe, Life, and I even surprisingly prefer The Mentalist to this.)

Also, entirely off topic but I couldn't help but think of the Family Guy "Let's Go to the Hop" episode where Peter goes back to school to get them to stop licking toad.

That kid looked like an exact clone of "Cocoon", "D.A.R.Y.L." and "The Neverending Story" actor Barret Oliver.

I like this show, a nice post-CSI (with crossover crew like Danny Cannon) and it's interesting seeing Marley Shelton in a 'tough' character role.

I think I'm giving up on this show, its just not very engaging. Its gimmick of the whole science thing isn't all that different to make it worthwhile.

I feel the exact opposite, and find it quite engaging. Then again I don't watch many shows like this. CSI(s) and Bones, that's about it. This show doesn't remind me of either one but it's a nice follow-up for 10PM.

I think it really just feels like a standard cop show to me. I mean, there's nothing all that scientific about what he's doing, so I guess it feels to me that anyone smart fits in the same place as him. I mean in tonight's episode, what, he figured out that they had been operated on and knew how to talk to an autistic kid? The former was pretty much a given (either some experimental drug or surgery, given the kids' slight recoveries) and the latter was almost common sense. Last week's was actually worse because it was sort of the opposite actually. He just all of a sudden knew exactly what was being done and where. Even if you accept that he knows right away the research that would be done that this would involve, a million different companies could be doing similar research, and he just zeroes in on one? It just didn't make any sense whatsoever really. (Though I forgive that a little, because I actually thought last week's was the best of the 4).

But anyway, for a standard cop show, to me, Life is much better. For a cop show with a gimmick, as I mentioned, there's The Mentalist and Fringe for me, in addition to the lighter ones I watch in the summer (aka Monk and Psych).

I might keep putting it on while doing other stuff because Thursdays are a little light otherwise, but if something else interrupted, I would be ambivalent about missing it. I'm glad that some people are really enjoying it, but I've been very disappoined and just can't say I'm one of those liking it.

So far now they've used two of the four ITV plots - "Resurrection" in the pilot and "Containment" this past week.

In the February 19 episode they took a big turn away from the ITV series by adding a new character - Agent Felix Lee played by Omar Benson Miller. It appears they are trying to add more humor into the show with his character doing various aspects of field and grunt work.

Last night's episode was written by the UK series creator Stephen Gallagher, though it wasn't based on one of the UK series episodes. It was a bit different than usual. To me, it seemed more like a NUMB3RS episode plot than the usual Eleventh Hour we have seen.

Tonight's episode (3/12) would have been a good opportunity to do a cross-over with CSI:NY. When Hood shows up at the crime scene you see a bunch of CSI's (w/CSI bold on their backs) working the scene.

On a side note. I am enjoying the show more than when it started.

I thought it was going to be a crossover when it started. I think the show has been finding its own voice and feel.

Did anyone have some broadcast trouble with last night's episode. I was watching it in HD via Comcast and at one point the picture started flickering and there were bursts of noise. I checked the analog signal at this point and it was having the same problem. A bit after I switched back, it stopped when they started just giving us a 4:3 picture.

I don't get CBS HD through Comcast (since I'm in Canada) but I did see the slight flickering, and audio static. Wasn't severe and it didn't switch to the SD version, though.

At the same time, those problems are pretty common when I watch CBS HD.

Anyone notice the 'Ugly Betty' type girl's face? She looked related to Marley Shelton, and sure enough the guest cast listed a Samantha Shelton. Probably her sister.

Definitely her sister.

I saw the flashing as well. If you paused it, you'd see that there was individual frames that appeared to have red and green striations overlaid on top of the video.

I'm really enjoying this show so far, I look foreward to it every week.

Sewel and Shelton have a really nice and breezy chemistry and I just really like Sewel's character, he's got a very calm and quiet air about him that I appreciate.

Anyone hear anything about Shelton possibly not coming back if the show get's renewed? I read something on IMDB that the role of agent Young might be recast. :frowning:

If you read it on the iMDB news sections, that's one thing.
If you read it on the message boards, don't believe it till you see it, or at least if the posters on that board back it up with a credible link.
