Dugpa.com just posted news about a new 5.1 remix and a planned release date.
Check out their site, as the webmaster is in close contact with Asymetrical Productions (David Lynch's Production Company), and they always have the big Lynch DVD news first.

    Great news!
BTW, can anyone confirm whether there's a special edition of BLUE VELVET in the works?

Man, this year just keeps getting better and better for DVD releases. And I too would love some news on a possible Blue Velvet SE.

This is a great movie with very moving performances, but I can't bring myself to ever watch it again. The fact that it's based on a true story makes it far too much for me to handle.

    Yes!
    ------------------
He thought on homeland, the big timber, the air thin and chill all the year long. Tulip poplars so big through the trunk they put you in mind of locomotives set on end. He thought of getting home and building him a cabin on Cold Mountain so high that not a soul but the nighthawks passing across the clouds in autumn could hear his sad cry. Of living a life so quiet he would not need ears. And if Ada would go with him, there might be the hope, so far off in the distance he did not even really see it, that in time his despair might be honed off to a point so fine and thin that it would be nearly the same as vanishing.

True, not an official announcement... but this site nailed the release date on the Twin Peaks Series DVD days before DVDfile and the Bits did.
And as far as a Blue Velvet SE in production, I would assume so...

Looking VERY forward to that interview.

This is great news. I just watched it on HBO or something a while back and remember again what a great film it was! Its the film that legitimized David Lynch back when ... and believe it or not, we can all thank Mel Brooks who saw something in Lynch and supported him financially in the early days.
But I must ask my recurrent question, "WHERE is Lost Highway!!!!!

    update from dvdfile.com
    Paramount December titles (09.25.01 - 12:04am)
Just announced from Paramount is their early December slate of releases, both new and old alike. Due on 12/11 is the recent theatrical hit The Score, complete with plenty of extras. In addition to the 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer and English 5.1 and 2.0 surround tracks, goodies include an audio commentary with director Frank Oz and director of photography Rob Hahn, "The Making Of The Score" featurette, additional footage not seen in theaters, and the trailer.
Leading off the catalog releases on 12/4 are two comedies, including one of my favorite sleepers, Soapdish. Presented in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen with English 5.1 and English and French 2.0 surround tracks, also included are the original behind-the-scenes featurette and the trailer. 'Til There Was You is also presented in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen and with English 5.1 and English and French 2.0 surround tracks, and the trailer.
Perhaps one of David Lynch's most accessible yet accomplished works, The Elephant Man features a new 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer and English 5.1 and 2.0 surround tracks, retrospective cast and crew interviews, a narrated photo gallery and the trailer. Medium Cool is also presented in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen, with an English mono track, audio commentary with filmmaker Haskel Wexler, editorial consultant Paul Golding and actor Marianna Hill, and the trailer. Retail is $29.95 each for all of the above
Rounding out Paramount's early December slate are Star Trek The Original Series Volume 39 (including episodes #77 "The Savage Curtain" and episode # 78 "All Our Yesterdays") and - drumroll, please! - the very last Original Series DVD release, Volume 40, which includes the last episode, "The Turnabout Intruder," as well as the series pilot, "The Cage," making its DVD debut. Like all the Star Trek releases, each episode is presented in full frame with new English 5.1 Dolby Digital and mono tracks, and TV spots. Retail is $19.95 a pop.

This is great to hear. Now if we could only get Eraserhead, Lost Highway and Wild at Heart on DVD then I would be a very happy man.

The UK R2 DVD of Elephant Man has a short photo gallary
but also has a great 50+ page booklet about Lynch and Merrick.

Another Lynch UK R2 extra is a 45 min. interview
with Dennis on the UK Blue Velvet.
The US R1 Blue Velvet has a better picture,
but that might be my Apex PAl to NTSC conversion.
