The current issue of EGM has the Top 100 games of all time. Pretty interesting picks and I do agree with the number one game, Super Metroid. That game brings back some fond memories...

When Next Generation did this, they included Death Tank (hidden game for the Saturn). I agree strongly with that one, but I bet EGM ignored it. [IMG]
At this point, I'd put Chu Chu Rocket in the list. I wouldn't have originally, until I played it a couple of weeks ago in a 16-player tournament for a prize. That was more nervewracking than any Quake or Bomberman tournament I've ever been in!
    Oh, and I won. [IMG]

Just out of curiosity, where's Ms. Pac-Man on the list (sort of my acid test for these lists, along with Joust)?

Only console games, no PC or arcade.

    Top 5:

    Super Mario 64

    Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

    Tetris

    Super Metroid

Maybe someone could type the whole list.

IMHO, don't consider this a definitive list of the Top 100 games ever. This is an opinion list, not a poll or fact-based list.

    Andre-

I agree, but I'm not going to get mad if a game or two is missing. I could care less whats on there, but rather where everything that is on there is placed.

    Morgan,
Agreed. Of course games will be missing off the list, but that's half the fun of these kind of lists. I'm just glad to see a lot of my all time favorites made it. Except on the all time worst list E.T. is number one. I remember playing that one a lot on the old 2600. I guess that's nostalgia kicking in. [IMG]

Can't argue with #1. That game blew me away.

I would have ranked Super Mario 64 a little higher.

I don't think a game like Tetris should even be considered.

That is time wasting game like Solitaire, Minesweeper, and Chess.

Some of my favorite console games (not sure where they are on the list):

    Atari 2600 Adventure

    Colecovision Venture

    Nintendo - Mario World 3

Super Nintendo - Super Mario World

    N64 - WaveRace, Mario Kart 64

PSX - Gran Turismo 2, MGS

PS2 - GT3, MGS2 (in my eyes, these sequels delivered) Madden series

Haven't got my Xbox or Gamecube yet (no lauch games have hooked me yet).

I totally agree with Super Metroid. That game IS perfection! [IMG] Where did 'Zelda: Ocarina of Time' and 'Metal Gear Solid' rank?

98-Quake III Arena, Dreamcast, 2000 - The PC game DOMINATES this one, I can't believe that they put this on here, without the mouse and keyboard, it's weak.
94-Baseball Stars, NES, 1989 - Who DIDN'T spend hours inputting names for each of the players on their team? One of the first TRULY customizable games.
92-Ice Hockey, NES, 1988 - A weak sports game, sports didn't really come alive until the release of the genesis.
88-Virtua Tennis, Dreamcast, 2000 - The best multiplayer sports game ever. The graphics are STILL incredible.
80-Skies of Arcadia, Dreamcast, 2000 - I own it but I'm not wild about it. Random Battles are WEAK, it shows laziness on the producers part in my opinion.
    45-Phantasy Star Online ver. 2, Dreamcast, 2001
How could the 2nd part of a VERY recent game already be one of the top 100 games of all time? While the first one was revolutionary...I can't see this.
17-Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2, PlayStation, 2000 - This is stupid because the dreamcast version played faster, and had better graphics.
15-Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec, PlayStation 2, 2001 - I guess this is just a matter of taste. I think MSR is a VASTLY superor game.
Just some comments. Im bored [IMG]

Not all of the top 5 are Nintendo games. You didn't mention Castlevania Symphony of the Night (God I love this game!). It is nice to see the game so highly regarded. I still play it constantly.

I don't like Metroid, the side scroller's time has passed IMHO. Ditto for mario brothers. There are a lot of games that are good for nostalgic reasons, but I wouldn't play them NOW because they aren't any fun. IE River City Rampage. I played that game for 8 hours straight OFTEN when I was 12, it's hard now with better games that are out to say they are great games. People will say they are, but they are lying to seem like they are more down or something. I've been playing video games since 1980, so it's not like I haven't been in the scene a long time, Video games are just products of their time, it's not FAIR to compare Frogger on the Atari to Max Payne.
