The difference certainly is striking. The BD seems to have undergone the current trend of boosting contrast for a perkier presentation (look at the blown whites of the shirt in the first comparison at DVDBeaver), but if folk are digging it then I think I'll get me some Scissorhands action too.

Actually, Highdefdigest didn't think it was so hot either, giving it 3 stars out of 5, so Robert and I aren't alone.

It's certainly not bad -- and it's better than the standard def DVD (which it ought to be) -- but it's not the best catalog transfer I've seen by a wide margin and is not especially impressive by HD standards as Robert mentioned.

IMO posting static image shots doesn't show you if there are occasional MPEG motion artifacts (which there are with this disc) so you cannot accurately judge how good or bad a transfer is by that alone.
