It appears that the ability to view someone else's "raw" post is gone with the new software. I used to be able to hit the edit button on someone else's post, for the purpose of seeing how they formatted certain things (of course, I wasn't able to actually change anything). It was very helpful and educational. Now, when I attempt to go into someone's post the system says something to the effect of "this is not your post."

Any way of getting around this?

Nope. There is no way around this. It is a security feature that does not allow anyone to do anything (including viewing what code they may have used) with anyone else's post. If you want to do this at some time just ask the author of the post to share with you how they did what they did in that particular post.
