This made my day!
Ed Sullivan Rock and Roll Classics
This looks like a treasure trove to me - The Doors, Ike & Tina Turner, Jefferson Airplane, James Brown, The Mamas and Papas, The Rolling Stones, The Supremes, and on and on. I'm tempted to get the whole 12 disc set (plus the bonus disc) in one fell swoop.
But first - does anyone have this series in part or in total, from Time-Life? Is it acceptable quality? I don't think I have anything from Time-Life in my collection.

Patrick, I'm also interested in this set, depending on how long each DVD is. Do you know this information?

Jay, it looks like each disc is 50 minutes.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to find full track listings for each disc.

Thanks! I'm seriously thinking about buying the whole set too. I haven't bought any of the Time Life VHS or DVDs, but it can't be too bad, especially since the material they use for the TV broadcast of The Ed Sullivan compilation shows looks pretty good.

Well, I couldn't resist and I bought the whole 12 disc set. Each disc is about 45 minutes. Considering what this is - vintage television with mono sound - the bits I've sampled so far sound good and look, generally, very good considering. (Frankly, I've seen music vid compilations of more recent vintage that don't look as clear and colorful as some the material I've sampled on these discs).
I've only sampled the discs so far, watching about two dozen tracks. There would seem to be a couple of clips that are in the set more than once. Only one of the clips I looked at was mimed rather than sung live - I don't expect more than a couple like that. Part of the attraction for me for these clips (particularly The Rolling Stones ones) is that they were, to varying degrees, live performances.
I don't know why the website doesn't provide a tracklist for each of these discs. I'm going to list the tracks here, so that anyone who wants to pick and choose volumes can be informed.
