This is weird. Back in August Universal stated that Baretta and Law & Order were coming in 2002, and listed 8 television shows that were coming from them in 2003.

Well, Earth: Final Conflict was just licensed to ADV! Here's the new press release.

Wacky, wacky stuff. I wonder what that means for Dragnet, Emergency!, Magnum P.I., The Rockford Files, Sliders, Quantum Leap, and Battlestar Galactica. No telling at this point.

Frankly I was suprised it was coming from Universal at all, considering ADV has all the other Tribune shows

I'm hoping what they REALLY meant from Universal was Earth2

Earth2 was a great show, it's too bad they cancelled it only after one season. I'd gladly purchase it.

umm, they were crappy anyway [IMG]

I'm guessing that they don't want to commit to all 5 seasons straight off

While Season 5 was crappy, yes, Season 4 was amongst the shows best. Certainly better than Seasons 2 and 3. I'll buy all of them up until "Point of No Return", the Season 4 finale, and for all intents and pourposes, the series finale for the original show. Season 5 is so different, like it or hate it, it is NOT the "Earth Final Conflict" that premierred in 1997. I hope they atleast get Season 4. Season 5 can be lost forever for all I care.

PS. This is my first post here, but I have been "lurking" for about 8 months.

I think I may have found the answer to the whole thing. According to one of Tribune's(the company that made the show) marketing staff, who posted on the official Andromeda(another show made by tribune) message board, ADV has the rights to the LAST three seasons, not the first three, as I had incorrectly assumed. Universal has the rights to the first two, which makes sense, considering they announced that they would be releasing the show on dvd aswell a few months back. So, Universal will release the show's first two seasons, and ADV will cover it's final three. I've never heard of this happening before, where two companys put the same show on dvd at the same time, so it should be quite interesting to watch unfold, to say the least. Here's the link to the post I referenced:

hope you all can see it ok.

I believe Universal invested in the first 2 and was the distributor

I don't find her "I have no idea what Universal is doing with the first two" very comforting

Yes, because they're all owned by Tribune. It's a package deal

Mutant X's full first season is already out in UK by Cult TV, them, and ADV are my favorite distributers in the world, they get the best sci-fi stuff. [IMG]

Your welcome, David. It will be interesting to see who has the best video/audio quality, and extras too! I thouroughly enjoyed the show's first four seasons, so those are on a "must buy" list.

To be fair, the actor quit the show because they wouldn't give him a raise, leaving them with a one year setup of a 5 year arc that was now totally unusable

Though frankly ANYTHING would have been better than the felgercarb they came up with

This is the only show I have ever seen where every single person quit the second their contract was up (except Von Flores)
