DVI vs. Firewire (1 Viewer)

OK, I've been told that before I get a new TV (I want to pick one up this week, an RPTV) I need to make sure it has firewire and DVI ports.

So...

A. What are they for
B. Are they both that important
C. Do I need both

Any info would be great!

Jason there has been numerous threads on DVI-HDCP. Here is a small sampling of threads explaining it and it's importance.
dvi-hdcp upgrade?
No DVI - am I in trouble?
DVI input and RPTVhow long until a DVI is a necessity?

Personally I think DVI-HDCP has become a necessity on HDTV's.
