I'm thinking about purchasing the Oppo Digital DVD player and would definitely need to be able to get progressive scan out of it. However, I use the Sanyo Z1 pj, which does not have DVI. Since the Oppo player only passes progressive scan signals through the DVI output... There are adapters (see below) that convert DVI to component and will pass a progressive scan signal. Does anyone know much about these adapters and will it do exactly what I am looking to gain from the Oppo Digital DVD player?

I think those are meant for computer video cards that use DVI-I (digital and analog on the same cable). The Oppo uses DVI-D which is only digital. Component video is an analog format and can't be extracted from a DVI-D stream. So this won't work and you'll need a dvd player that passes progressive scan over component.

^ he is correct. The only way to do this is to get a powered adapter that will cost a lot of $$$. I would not buy that DVD player
