I already spent Christmas money / money from returns on:

Office Space
Tommy Boy
The Lost Boys (got the old version and upgraded it to the new SE)
King Kong Collection (the Best Buy limited edition)

I still have $9 left to spend. It will either go towards a cheap movie (perhaps it's finally time to pick up Laura!) or be used to other money for something bigger. Not sure yet.

I traded THE ISLAND (which I'd already bought the date of release) for TOY STORY 2: Special Edition; I'm also spending some X-Mas cash on the Collector's Box for the FRIENDS DVDs Seasons 1-10 and on an import DVD of U2's "All Because of You" single...

Well, I bought a CD player for my car with the help of a Best Buy gift card, but with the remainder of the money I have until payday, I will probably buy:

Grizzly Man
Into the Blue
SeaQuest DSV: Season 1
The Shield: Season 4
Tracey Takes On: Season 1
WWE Survivor Series 2005

I ended up spending the $9 on Laura and Se7en. I guess I went a little over the $9 I had to spend, but Se7en Platinum was on sale for $12 and I couldn't resist. :b

That brings up a question that I'd be interested in hearing the answer to:

With your Christmas 'proceeds', what DVD's will you buy that you normally wouldn't buy with your own money.

With the $100 Best Buy GC, $25 Meijer GC, and $20 cash I bought the following:

Sin City SE ($30)
Gilmore Girls Season 3 and 4 ($25 each)
Toy Story 2 SE ($15)
Simpsons Season 7 (regular box, not the Marge head) ($42)

"With your Christmas 'proceeds', what DVD's will you buy that you normally wouldn't buy with your own money".

Good question.

Since I have a friend that works in my local video store I usually do not buy that many new releases since I get everything from him used at half the price of the new release price at a particular time of the month so I usually use gift certificates/money for box sets or releases that my local video store would not carry. He lets me come in and pick the best copies. Example: Wedding Crashers best price is $14.99, I'll get it for $7.00 when he can pull the copies to be sold. Done this for years and never had a bad copy.

I got a $25 gift [Walmart. UGGG!!] card from a relative. I am going to get either Nashville or Being There on DVD. How are the transfers [sound & picture] on these? Is Warners planning special edition of Being There? Would be nice! :D My other gift card is a $50 American Express gift card. That will be used on Feb 28th when that Dog Day Afternoon, Network, and All The President's Men box is released from Warners. Wow! What a Christmas! :D

It makes no difference to me. I buy the same things regardless of where the money comes from. The only time it would make a difference would be if it were a giftcard to a place with a very limited selection. But I'm having a hard time coming up with an example.

I went out last night with a list of about 30 titles. I found one of the titles on my list. In the process of looking, I found another title that I've never picked up at a price I couldn't refuse. But I would have eventually picked up both of them.

Typically I get gift cards to our local maga-mart (Fred Meyers for those in the Northwest). If they don't have what I want in their Home Electronics department, I use the card for groceries and spend the grocery money elsewhere.

Got a bit carried away in the post xmas sales:

Casino SE
Sunset Boulevard
Airplane
V - the original mini series
Dominion
Catch me if you can
Scanners
The Brood
Mr & Mrs Smith
Devils Rejects: Special Edition
Inside Deep Throat
Twilight Zone : Ulitimate Edition Season One
Starship Troopers
Brotherhood of the wolf

Didnt realise how many i'd bought until I listed them, and now have no idea when I will find the time to watch them!
About £125 all in, so not too bad.
