DVDs not playing properly on older TV (1 Viewer)

I have a Sony DVD player and recently lost my Mitsubishi rear projector - am now using a (rather old) 19" TV and the DVD input has to go through the VCR. On widescreen DVDs I seem not to be able to view DVDs properly - they fade in and out light-to-dark, as if protecting a copyright violation. Some play OK but not the widescreen/anamorphic ones.... any suggested solutions??

Many thanks

You need an RF modulator. You can't run through VCR's, not for years now.

Bingo. It's called Macrovision..... Go directly from the DVD player to the TV via an RF Modulator as John said. Good luck!
