Wanted to check something. I would normally think that unlike VHS, speakers have no effect on CDs and DVDs and wouldn’t deteriorate them. But is this true and are we absolutely sure that putting DVDs on speakers is not a bad thing?

With a VHS tape being a magnetic data storage media I can understand the concern of the drivers' magnets being bad. CD and DVD are an optical data storage media were lasers are used. The only concern would be that you aren't putting them back in jewel cases and leaving them stacked on each other in which case the vibrations could abrade the discs making it harder to read.

How could they be affected? As noted, we're talking about optical discs here; they are not a magnetic medium.
