I have a JVC dvd player. It's the three disc changer they came out with a while back. I paid $200 for it, which lets you know it was a few years ago. Well anyway, it is not progressive scan, and I want to upgrade, but ...

The technology is changing so rapidly. I could get a progressive scan unit cheaply now, but without optical output. I could buy a nicer one, but since recorders are coming down in price, I could wait a little while and get a nicer machine, but it probably wont have hdmi outputs (which my TV has inputs for). I could get a machine with all these features now, which I can't afford, or later when prices drop, but by then, the High Def war will probably be settled, and DVD players will be on the verge of another change (which I won't be able to afford right then either, but I could always wait...)

Anyone else frustrated like me?

What display??? Is the de-interlacer that poor in the display??? I wouldn't think it a big deal at all, as long as you can feed yur display via component video.

I can notice a pretty dramatic difference between letting my DVD player de-interlace (was a Toshiba SD4900, now a Yamaha DVDC750) and letting my tv de-interlace (36" Toshiba HD tube, I forget the model number but it's got a 42 in it, lol)
