Lookit the two Panasonic DVD players on this page:

$1200 and $1500. What's so special about them?

SDI = serial digital interface

its a high-end mod on those consumer dvd players. Look here for a short description. looks like the first website (dynamicsoundaudio) also does other things like damping the chassis etc..
