I don't know if this is a question about my TV or my DVD player. So I thought I'd just put the question here.

I have a Samsung 55" RPHDTV (HCL552W) and a Sony progressive scan DVD player (Sony DVP NS700P). I also have a cheapo VHS player. When I play tapes on the VHS player, I can change the aspect ratio on the tv to Zoom1, Zoom2, Panorama, etc. But, when I play DVD's, those options aren't available on my TV. Is this because I'm using progressive scan on my DVD player?

I have one non-anamorphic WS DVD. I'd like to be able to use one of the Zoom options, so the people don't all look "fat".

Also, I have component video connected from the DVD player to the TV's 480p/1080i input. Would it make a difference if I switched to the 480i/480p input?

a lot of TVs lock into anamorphic widescreen mode when they detect a progressive scan signal, so yes it is because you're using progscan
