I have a Sony DVD player as well as a Sony DD receiver. I ran the optical audio line to the reciever and it works great. Then ... my wife says she doesn't want to have to use the receiver and external speakers for my 1 year old daughters DVD's. Probably just as well, we all know Barney and Klipsch don't mix. So I ran the red and white RCA audio jacks from the DVD directly to the television. Seems to work ok. My question is, when i am watching one of MY DVD's and using the receiver, am i loosing any audio signal by having the RCA's also hooked up to the TV and the TV muted. I need to be able to listed both ways. Thanks for your input.
