Hi all. The family is thinking about getting a dvd recorder for christmas and they've asked me to try and find one that's a good fit. I was looking and recommended the Panasonic dmre80 with the built in hard drive. I'm still fairly new to recordable dvds, so my question is as follows: Will the DVD-R discs play in the DVD player of the family's Pontiac Montana? Its a factory installed player, and I know that DVD-R usually plays in most regular DVD players, but I'd like confirmation that it'll play in the car. Thanks in advance.

I'd say the odds are fairly good that you should be able to play the discs in the van as long as it's a pretty new (less than 2 years old).

    Good luck in your search!

Thanks for the response, Alf. The van's about a year old so hopefully it will work. [IMG]

    Jim-

The player in that van is pretty picky about media types. You might want to get like a combo pack of media and give it a try. I can tell you that DVD+R does -not- play worth a darn in that thing, but DVD+RW sometimes works. (DVD-R media, the Ritek I know works)
