Come on guys. I know one of you know something about this.

Basically I am trying to decide if I should go ahead and buy a DVD player now or wait a while for one that does DD-EX (since my receiver has an 8 input direct).

For what it's worth (maybe not much), I'd say go ahead and get a player now. I haven't heard of anybody trying to include a Dolby EX or DTS-ES decoder in a player.

It'd be nice if they do include an EX/ES decoder with 7.1 preamp outs in the near future. That is if this digital connection standard for DVD-Audio or SACD remains vaporware.

I'm not sure, but I don't think all players are convenient enough to know which signal (analog outs for DVD-Audio or digital out for DVD-Video) to output on their own. If you only use the analog outs to take advantage of DVD-Audio, then you can't get EX/ES audio.
