I'm wondering which DVD players/changers have fast layer change speed. My Sony 560 has a slow speed that it holds about 2 seconds changing layer, while my friend's older-but-better 550 has less than a second layer change speed. With today's dropping price on DVD players, I'm wondering if the layer change speed has been a sacrifice for lower prices.

Slower transports may very well have been brought about the desire for lower prices. My second-generation Sony DVP-S300 has a pretty fast layer change.
Denon's current line-up of players have a 4 Mb buffer chip that should minimize or eliminate visible layer changes entirely.
