Hi, I'm in the market for a low cost DVD player (progressive scan) which supports MP3. I currently have a Panasonic RP56 which reads MP3 CDs, but it plays all the MP3s sequentially.

I would like something that reads long filenames and recursive directories and lets you choose what you want to play.

    Any recommendations?

One more question -- do DVD players which read DVD+/-R MP3 disks exist?

    THANKS!!!

Newer models support MP3s with long filename and directories. But all of them that I've seen only support MP3 playback from CD-R/RW, not MP3 on DVDR.

What about the menu features? Can you view long filenames on the screen? What about creating playlists?

    THANKS!!!

Check out that GateWay connect dvd Player.
I see these being sold via eBay for about $130 or so.
Or purchase new at $190 with the wired 10/100 network card.
This thing plays everything I toss at it.

It's also very easy to make it region free via the remote.
I really don't use it for dvd video playback but rather streaming video & audio, works well with ReplayTV video's and DVArchive
A week ago Gateway was closing the BM stores, I found two
of these being used as display’s.
Purchased them at a great price and have been playing with it ever since [IMG]
