What's the difference between 4:3 letterbox, 4:3 Normal, and 16:9 widescreen? I don't have a widescreen tv, so I shouldn't even use 16:9 right? So what's the differ between these types?

    Thanx.

4:3 Letterbox - Standard TV with movie defaulting to widescreen.

4:3 Standard - Standard TV with movie defaulting to Pan and Scam (yuck) or Full Frame

16:9 Widescreen - If you have a widescreen set use this. Also if you have a 4:3 TV with the 16:9 enhanced mode, select this. Most SONY Wega's have this feature as well as newer flat screen sets.

So keep it at Letter Box then, right? Also, I have the Toshiba 20" Flat, would that be one to use the 16:9 for?

    AbelM,
You should use either 4:3 Letterbox or 4:3 Normal (Pan & Scan), depending on which you prefer.
If you use 4:3 Letterbox, you will always get Letterboxed output from the DVD player. If you use 4:3 Normal, you will get Letterboxed if the disc only contains a widescreen version of the film, or you will get full-screen (Pan&Scan) if the disc contains a full-screen version of the film.

4:3 Norm. is full screen? Huh, weird? So you are saying that if a Disc is encoded with a 4:3 or a 1:33 then it will always play the 1:33??
