I currently have the InFocus 4805 connected to my JVC Progressive DVD player. Do they make a DVD player with a DVI input? I heard this is superior in picture quality to component. True? Any recomendations on one if so?

Any upconverting dvd player has DVI inputs. Zenith and Samsung have good ones.

JVC surprisingly so doesn't make one.

The current hot ones right now are the Panasonic S97, Denon 1910, Sony 975V and the Bravo D2. There are others like the Samsung(highly NOT recommended), Toshiba(again same boat as Samsung).

Any of those 4 in the "budget" category are good but they all have their quirks. Personally the Sony 975V is the one I'm planning to get.

Given your digital PJ, I'd get a DVI output upscaling dvd player.

Do you guys recommend the same for those with HDTVs? I'm getting a CRT HDTV (rear projection) soon --- and was just wondering.

    Dave,
I guess it depends on which HDTV you buy. IF you buy one that doesn't upconvert to 540P or 1080I then a quality 480P source is your player. If it does, they say it can make a difference but I've heard its very slight to begin with.

Personally I'd just buy a quality 480P player and be done with it.

FWIW, I own a CRT RPTV with a DVI input.
