judging from the secrets benchmarks, the panasonic s97 has a better component connection than the s77. The oppo 971hd 970hd looks like a good bet. (both are upsampling, with dvi/hdmi outs, but most of the 480p models don't decode mpeg2 quite as well...)

Either Panasonic 97 or 77.

Oppo DV971H does not support 480p via component out.
