I have a older Dolby Pro-Logic Receiver that only has a 2 channel input. In addition to the receiver, I have a multi-channel amp. Before I buy a new controller, is it possible to run the multi-channel outputs from a DVD player to the multi-channel amp so that I can get 5.1 sound from this current setup?

    Thanks,
    Anthony

No, I'm afraid that wont work.

Consider this: how will you adjust the volume?

The DVD player also does not know if your speakers are LARGE vs SMALL. Your receiver does some bass-management that your DVD player does not.

The 6 analog outputs on the DVD player are designed to run through a processor before the amp to handle these and other issues.
