I used to subscribe to a magazine, that I cannot remember the name, about 2-3 years ago, but they had suddenly dissapeared in the middle of my subscription and never heard of since. I tried reaching them through all means possible, but no luck. The magazine included reviews of current dvds and each issue included a dvd that featured movie trailers of upcoming dvds and theater release. Well, I don't know what happened to them, but they made away with my money since I never received all issues and I was just wondering if there are any magazines around that are like what I described above that come with a dvd? I will try to look for the magazine to find out the name, but I am sure someone here might of been a subscriber

The magazine was Total Movie and Entertainment. Here is a cover.

    sample cover

The magazine folded two years ago. Its subscriber base was bought by another magazine that was supposed to fulfill the rest of your subscription but I only received two or three of the second magazine which I cannot remember the name of.

I could never understand why these magazines could never take off. There are countless videogame magazines that come with CDs, why not DVDs of movies and shorts and things like that? It seems like it would be a natural.

Although the content of the magazine was quite lacking (ex FILM THREAT and now annoying IFC host Chris Gore was somehow involved in it, which tells you what the quality was like). That probably had more to do with it.

I seem to remember it being overly hokey and not terribly informative (especially the second mag, whose name I can't remember, as evidenced above).

I received the first volume (Winter 2001) of dvd preview, with movie reviewer Leonard Maltin as Editor-in-Chief.

It was a digital magazine only, no print version. I subscribed, they took my money, and I never heard another word from them.

I'm still angry when I think about it.

I bought all the Total Movie mags when they came out. I came close to getting a subscription but glad I never did (a buddy of mine got burned though). The DVD was the only reason I ever picked up the mag. I think it may have been a bit ahead of it's time. I'd bet that a mag like that would go over better today, what with DVD being more widespread.
