Ive tried various DVD making software over the past few days to see which I prefer. And today Ive discovered that my WXP now doesnt recognize my DVD burner drive properly. When its empty is says its a DVD-RW drive in My computer, but put a blank DVD or DVD movie into it and it says its a blank CD. When I click on it it says it cant read it anyway. Under Properties it says its a CD drive not a DVD drive, though it calls it correctly DVD SONY DRU 700A.

Everything worked fine before, but since installing and uninstalling various DVD software I've messed up something. Ive used XP Restore to roll everything back, but still the same problem.

    Suggestions appreciated :)

    Paul,

Sometimes doing a device disable and then re-enable will help cure problems like yours. Might want to give it a try.
