DVD Cleaning with washing up liquid? (1 Viewer)

Can you clean a DVD with washing up liquid? Or anything very straightforwards?
Any tips?

i've used water succesfully.
i just rub from the center to the outside...ymmv

My method is: Make sure your hands are clean, and wash disc gently with dishsoap with your fingers and rinse well, and use a soft terrycloth to gently wipe dry, from the center out.
