I have a Toshiba SD6915 player and a Yamaha HTR-5760 receiver. The player supposedly plays DVD-Audio and SACD discs in multi channel, but is only playing them 2 channel. My DVD movies play in 5.1. I called Toshiba and they said they arent responsible for misinformation, etc (if you look at the specs, it says it plays everything multi-channel). Is anyone familiar with this player? Do I have it hooked up wrong? Can anyone recommend a player that is TRULY 5.1? These are the audio specs: Any assistance would be appreciated.

    AUDIO:

    DVD-Audio Compatibility Multi-Channel
    SACD Compatibility Multi-Channel
    Dolby® Digital Decoding
    Audio D/A 24-bit/192kHz
    Dolby® Digital/DTS® Compatible
    WMA & MP3 Playback

DVD-A and SACD can only be output by the 5.1 analog outs of the DVD player. The digital (coax or optical) out can only handle DD, DTS and PCM. You need to get 3 sets of audio cables and hook up the 5.1 analog outs to the 5.1 analog ins of your receiver.

After you hook up the cables to the multichannel output, be sure to enable multichannel output on SACDs. I believe the factory default is to read the 2-ch area.
