To take advantage of dvd a do I have to use the analog connections or will the digital cable do the job. I would think the digital cable would work because it works with movies. But if I knew for sure I wouldnt be asking. I have the denon dvd 1600 if that make a difference.

    Thanks

Yes you need to connect 6 analog outputs from your DVD-a player to the 6 multichannel inputs on your receiver in order to listen to DVD-a or SACD. Both DVD-a and SACD are decoded in the player and the analog signal is sent to the receiver/preamp. Using a digital connection will not reproduce DVD-a/SACD.

Frank is right, but let me clarify a bit..........
The digital connection will not allow you to listen to the HIGH RESOLUTION tracks on dvd-a and sacd.
With the digital connection, you'll hear the reg. stereo cd tracks on sacd hybrid discs, and the DD/dts tracks on the dvd-a disc.
You will need the analog connections for the HiRes playback!
    Good luck!

    Matt,
Get yourself 3 pair of Accoustic Research Interconnects and your good to go. If you really feel the urge to splurge, make sure you keep your receipts and be sure that you can return the high end cables if you don't hear any difference between them and the AR's.

I don't know the particulars with the Denon, but I need to go into a menu for my player to read the CD layer of SACDs.
