DVD-A has 5X the market share of SACD, despite fewer titles (1 Viewer)

That is a bald-faced lie. I posted it on one fucking forum, the HTF. And you then turn around and ask me to defend the 'hypocrisy' of my post. Guess what, I don't make the news, I just report it.

I don't need this shit. I don't know what your problem is, but welcome to my ignore list. It is obvious you've got some kind of personal issue with me.

Quite probably, but I'm also unconvinced that the SACD consumer base is larger than the DVD-A consumer base. I'm also not even convinced of any of the 'sales' figures that are reported for any of the formats. Half of the discs 'sold' last year could still be in the channel for all I know.

Regardless, when I'm called a hypocrite for posting a news story, and then blantant lies are told about me, it's pretty obvious that there is bias and blind anger around here, and it's time for me to take a break from the high-res discussion for a while. I'm sure there's enough venom and spite to keep the discussion going without me. Every one of these threads becomes the same, regardless. What's the point of having the same discussion over and over again. And those who claim to be satisfied with a niche format will still continue to argue that their chosen format must be the one to have mainstream success. Who cares?

Abso-friggin'-lutely.

That's why I quit joining in on the discussions month's ago.

Michael this may sound silly but one of the reasons why people argue with you may be the picture in your signature. I know every time I see it I get a mixture of revulsion, anger, annoyance, etc. Art has an impact on people. And creepy art can put people in a bad mood.

It's actually a portrait of 'The Master' from Manos: The Hands of Fate. But in the MST3K version, Joel and the Bots make a crack that it's a 'Frank Frazetta of Frank Zappa'. Frazetta. Those who read (or know anything about) fantasy pulp novels will be familiar with Frazetta's art.

I agree that these threads eventually wind up with the same arguments and heated debate (I blame the hardware/software makers for promoting frustration above all else) but I still enjoy reading them, even if I don't participate all that often. Someone else usually posts simular thoughts before I get them written down so I just watch from the sidelines. The funny thing is, it's like the Warriors and the Clippers arguing over who is the worst team in the league. They are both bad and regardless of who sells more, DVD-A or SACD, they both seem to be failing. And it's we who are the losers.:frowning: Remember how optimistic I was in, say December? What the h*ll happened? I'll still read the next threads because I actually enjoy all your comments. I'm just waiting for some good news for a change. And as Tom Petty said "the waiting is the hardest part".

Michael, I wrongly thought you started the hoffman thread, so my statement "all over the internet" was just something that came out in a heated battle. So after we had severel exchanges over there and then I see the same title over here that you started, that is why I made the false statement.

Lets just agree to disagree. :D I am really not a bad guy, I promise and I DO like both formats. It is like we were both spitting into the wind though wasn't it? But seriously though, you had to know that such an attention getting title was going to cause some trouble. Truce............

Any further sniping among members gets this thread closed. I would have closed this thing had I gotten to it sooner.

Well, it looks like Frank and an idiot with a flare gun did start the casino on fire and his guitar and the whole band's equipment did burn up. Smoke was on the water...He's so Frank to me.

Even if Blu-Ray does take over, DSD isn't supported in teh Blu-Ray spec. I don't see how this is supposed to help DSD unless some announcement is coming soon.

Sony could have taken over the mass majority of removable flash memory by integrating Memory Stick into Playstation 1 and Playstation 2. That still hasn't happened, and no indications that Playstation 3 will have memory stick support.

So I wouldn't count on Blu-Ray to benefit SACD/DSD one bit

"Objection, your Honor. Speculation." :)

Brian, we dunno yet, man. Blu-ray MAY support DSD because of the Sony connection, but right now we don't know.

Lee?

There is a $3000 Blu-Ray machine out in Japan and it doesn't support DSD. Are we to assume that it doesn't follow the true spec?
