Durotherm Lite ? (1 Viewer)

Hello all,

My first post.

I was wondering if anyone here has used
the Parkland Plastic's "Durotherm" or "Durotherm-Lite"
4' x 8' sheets as a DIY screen & how happy were you with this surface ? Any pics of how you mounted the board ?

No "Do-Able" board here in the Southeast.

At one time Parkland Plastics had a screen version available that was a true 16x9 format instead of 4' x 8'. A couple of years ago the PP screen was great. I think now there are better materials and paint formulas. But if you decide to go this route, I have read about people glueing it to a backer board. That can be anything from MDF to a rigid foam board.

I used a frame made from Poplar 1x2s and blackout cloth from Hancock Fabrics. After building the frame slightly oversized, I stretched and stapled the fabric to the frame. Then I created a frame that has a 16x9 shape on the inside and a 103" diagonal measurement. I used door casing and decorative moldings at each corner.

In pic 1 below, you can see the frame and corner piece. In pic 2, you can see the frame. I am in the picture to give a perspective of size. In pic 3, it shows the screen with the curtain boarder. Some speakers in the picture are there for testing only.
