From http://www.thedigitalbits.com/#dunebad
part of Tuesday's update:
'When Artisan balked at the amount in question, the series’ producers denied Artisan access to an anamorphic master, 5.1 audio stems and most of the promised supplementary materials. They then went overseas and made a deal with a German company instead to produce a special edition DVD release of the series for Region 2. As part of this move, they granted the German company access to the anamorphic master and the other "premium" elements denied to Artisan.'
Does anyone have any more details like a possible release date or where to pre-order?
Brilliant that at least a decent copy will exist, even if we have to chase around a bit for it, although stupid that so many will be excluded. John

Thanks Roland.
When it has a date if you have any recommendation of where to purchase it would be great to post as well.
Thanks again,
John

It looks like the DVD will be released at the beginning of June.
The 1st part is supposed to be cut in a different way than the US version and has longer scenes in it. It is supposed to be the favored version of director John Harrison.

Thanks Roland and Hartwig.
I'll try and be patient now until they start listing it.
Finished watching the R1 version last night, picture surprisingly good for a non-anamorphic. What a difference it makes having four and a half hours to tell the story. Can't wait for the real version now.

Thanks for all the info, got a copy from Amazon as the ordering's so easy there. Already sold my R1 version so can't make a direct comparison, but first impressions are an already good picture further improved with the anamorphic transfer and the sound a bit more dynamic.
