Hi all. Looking for some advice/recommendations.
My mother's 60" TV just went kaput. She's in her 80s, in the early stages of dementia, and not very good with technology. She has a really tough time with anything computerized, like menus and such. So I want a TV that's very simple.

It is my understanding that they don't make DUMB TVs any more, they are all Smart TVs. But if I could find something that I can set up so that it always defaults to the cable box input and doesn't force her through a menu every time she turns it on, that would be great.

She also has a pretty limited budget for under $500.
Any suggestion or recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks. :)

LG's webOS operating system is the most user friendly.

I like LG's QNED90T 4K QD MiniLED TV, but the 65" is about $1k.

I last bought a "dumb" TV for my mother two years ago. An Insignia 32", but it's no longer available. All models are smart now.

This probably isn't much help, but you need to find a TV where you can configure a default input, such as the hdmi. I know both my Vizio TVs have this, but they are 4-5 years old. I know the TCL I have does NOT allow this.

Honestly, the best OS is not the issue. The issue is a TV that lets you configure a default "Power On' input. Many don't allow this, because they want to force you to go to their home menu.

Sony let’s you set a default ‘power on’ input.

If you want a dumb TV you want to buy something called a "Commercial Signage Display". You know those TVs you see playing adds on the store wall? That's what you want. No "smart" brains, just a couple inputs and if you're lucky speakers.

Best part is they can be had usually for less than a comparable sized smart TV.
