What exactlly do you need to take advantage of progressive scan? Besides a DVD player that has it. Do you need component video for example, I'm asking because my Yamaha DSP-A1 only has S-vid and so does my T.V. Thanks for any info.

You need a TV that can handle a 480P (progressive scan) signal. This means a HDTV capable set (although strictly speaking HDTV shouldn't be necessary, in reality just about all TVs that can handle a progressive signal are HDTV capable).

Progressive signals only work through component inputs. You'll probably want to run the signal directly from the player to the TV, a lot of receivers don't have the capability to handle the bandwidth required for prog scan.

Thanks Ken and Craig, I guess I'll need to upgrade my T.V. and get a pre-pro with component video, before I waste money on a progressive scan DVD player.
