Yesterday I learned that it is common knowledge within the professional Directv retail market that use of DVI/HDMI cables is failure. I learned this first hand during my failed attempt to use a top line DVI/HDMI with both the Samsung and Hughes HDTV DTV receivers.

I would appreciate anyones comments regarding this matter.

DVI works fine on my Zenith 520 to my Sharp 37" LCD. I've not tried my HDTivo HDMI port yet since it's hooked up to a CRT with no DVI input. Most of the people I know with D* HD have Samsung STBs and they all successfully use the DVI output. The only DVI/HDMI problem I'm aware of with D* is the HDTivo but that's been solved on newer units (mine included) and older units are typically replaced by D* for this problem.
