What's the deal? On ebay, suddenly everyone has a dts version of Scarface dvd and call it a "rare, out of print addition". I never knew there was a dts version of this dvd. Anyone know the background of this release?

Its a bootleg that is being sold in Asia.

The bootleg claims to have dts audio but does not.

Okay, so what about the other titles to claim dts from Asia? I've seen titles like The Deer Hunter, Taxi Driver, Apocalypse Now Redux, Alien, Aliens, 13 Days, The Untouchables, etc., with the DTS banner on the case art. Are all of these phoney?

Interesting Rutger_s. Don't I feel like an idiot now that I bid on a few of these titles and won. Perhaps I don't have to carry on with payment due to the fact that these are phoneys. Do you have a reliable source for the titles that you mentioned? Also, do these legitimate titles feature English spoken soundtracks with the dts 5.1?

Is the R1 Scarface OOP now? We haven't got it in at work (Circuit City) for months.

    Yes,
The R3 DVDs have dts English. Angel Eyes also has a Mandarin sound option.
www.yesasia.com for many of the Hong Kong DVDs.
Oh, and The Others also has an R3 Hong Kong release with dts English presented in letterbox widescreen only.

The DTS versions of these discs actually trigger the DTS mode on the receivers. At least, that is what happened when I ran it on my system. The sound itself doesn't sound much better quality-wise though, and that is the most important thing.

Everything else about these discs smell of bootleg; made at home.
