can i watch a dts es movie in a 5.1 setup? i.e i have the lotr ee and it has two choices for the soundtrak.. dd 5.1 and dts es 6.1... I keep seeing such great things about the dts soundtrak so i want to try it, but i dont know if i am going to be missing something form the sounds that were meant to play on the sourround back channel?

There is no such thing as DTS EX. I compared the DD EX and DTS ES tracks. While many say there is a difference between the two on this disc, I say there isn't anything more noticable than any other DD/DTS comparison. If your gear supports DTS, then YES, use the DTS ES track. You WILL be missing the extra help from the rear center(s), but you will not be missing any information.

I actually found the DD 5.1 soundtrack preferable over the DTS ES on LOTR EE. The DTS on high and lows didn't seem as audible but that's just my opinion.

You can watch a Dolby Digital EX or a DTS ES 6.1 track on a 5.1 setup. You only lose the rear center channel's sound.
