Megadeth? Peace Sells... But Who's Buying? WOW! I'll definately have to pick that one up. I love that album. That's something I never expected to see on DVD-A.

I used to own the CD so I'm well aware of its age. I just think it's funny how of all the potential DVD-As to be released, the one with that title gets picked. [IMG]

I wish some 311 albums would get the dvd-audio treatment. They are on an independent label called Capricorn Records, so maybe they would be cheap (relatively speaking) for DTS to release them on dvd-audio.

Their music has all sorts of stuff going on, so I think this would make for a good 5.1 presentation. They are very well-known. They aren't controversial (most of the members are from Nebraska [IMG]) & use only a tiny smattering of "bad" words in their songs. And lastly, they sound good too--My favorite album of theirs Transistor is HDCD encoded for example.

Phillip_T... Wake Up Dead is one of my favorite tunes on that album as well. I still to this day kick myself in the ass for not going to the filming of the video for that song. 105.5 KNAC made an announcement the day before the shoot that Megadeth was looking for people to use for the crowd in their new video (which turned out to be Wake Up Dead). For some reason I never made it. I could have been one of the many fist banging maniacs in that video... oh well.

I think my absolute favorite song on Peace Sells is My Last Words. The lyrics to that song still give me the creeps.

I wish someone would release a collection of Megadeth music videos on DVD. Maybe an updated version of Rusted Pieces or something.

I will be picking up Queen for sure. This is the first I have heard about Megadeth. I am not the biggest Megadeth fan, but if the DVD-A turns out nicely I will probably pick that up as well. DTS is doing a nice job in getting out more mainstream artists which should help DVD-A sales and acceptance.

Keep in mind, this wasn't a snap decision.

It takes a fair amount of time to put these together, so the Megadeth project could well have been underway as long ago as sometime in 2001, where they would have been getting rights to the title and tracking down master tapes.

The timing is ironic, and that's about the extent of it.

    Regards,

Hopefully this will be the impetus for more classic metal/hard rock albums to be remastered in DVD-A. (Iron Maiden, old Metallica, Slayer, etc...and even some newer titles like Tool, NIN...)

    LanceJ:

I agree with "Transistor" by 311 as being a great candidate. That is a reference quality recording and they've got A LOT of ambient sounds going on in most of the songs-(and only a few mediocre tracks). I took that CD to a Home Theater store to demo some Paradigm speakers and the sales rep was like "whoa, I've got to get that for the store to use as a demo."

Have there been any sightings of the Peace Sells DVD-A disc on store shelves yet? I don't see it listed on the Best Buy web site so who knows if they have it yet.
