DTC-100 with sealed access card slot? (1 Viewer)

I just bought an RCA DTC-100. When I got the box home and opened it up, I saw that the access card slot has a metal box welded over it, effectively sealing the card permanently into the unit.
Should I be worried about this? Did I inadvertently purchase one of the dreaded "no firmware update" DTC's that I've read about?

NEVER MIND... it seems I have a different problem.
I was instructed by someone in a different forum to pry open the cover. Guess what? NO ACCESS CARD! No card in the slot, no card in any of the plastic bags, NOTHING.

It appears that someone has boosted the card... all of the bags in the box were sealed except the one that contains the remote... what do you want to bet that the purloined access card was in that bag?
GRRR! That A/V store had better refund my money without a PEEP of a complaint.
