New DSL is only connecting at 250 kbps. Should be more like 768 kbps. What should i try?

First off, how far away from the switch/central station are you? DSL works a maximum of 3 miles away. If you're 2.75 miles away that may be the best speed you can get. Also, how old is your house? If the wiring is old you might look into replacing it.

It could be time to talk to the provider, and have them do some diagnostics as well.

For some reason i am now connecting at 650+kbps, so i am not sure what has happened. That is way better than the 250 kbps i was getting.
The house is new, and i wired it with cat5e throughout. Oh well, now it seems to be ok.
Thanks for the help.

Make sure you have all the filters hooked up to everything that connect to the RJ11 jacks (besides the modem). I made the mistake of connecting my DTV receiver directly to the phone jack and it severly halted my connection speed from 768k to around 250k, and I am a highly trained Central Office Technician (minus the highly trained part).
