It's one of my favorites, from Metropolis - Part 1.

It's near the end of the song, right after the following lyrics:

"This one will last forever,

Metropolis watches and thoughtfully smiles

She's taken you to your home."

Thanks!

From what I can tell the whole thing is triplets. The first part is 1/16 note triplets the second part is 1/32 note triplets.

Brian,

I'm not sure if that was exactly what you were needing to know. If not, holler and I'll see what I can do to help you out.

There's a thread title you don't see often. Being no more than an accomplished "air drummer" ;) I listen to Mike Portnoy in awe. Seeing as you're likely a fan you should check out his two disc instructional DVD. It's awesome. He goes through a number of DT and Liquid Tension Experiment songs in fair detail. There are also some Dream Theater performances. AND I finally understood what the hell odd time signatures are about! I'm a guitar player and a huge DT fan and include this as an essential part of my collection.
