My brother's friend wants to sell his Dreamcast to me for $40. It has 2 controllers, rumble pack, memory pack and 3 games(Tony Hawk 2, an NBA game, NFL Blitz). Should I go for it, even though the Dreamcast is basically a dead system? Also, if I do get it, what are some good games I could find used?

    Thanks,
    Kyle

    Umm....RESOUNDING YES![IMG]
The Dreamcast was and still is a fantastic system with droves of great games to play. The 40 buck you spend on it now will be money very well spent.
Fari warning though, DC games are becoming a bit harder to find and if you do grab this deal you may have to do some Ebaying of a little digging to find the top shelf titles on the system. Just a little heads up.

I'd say no, I hardly ever played my dreamcast. It and the N64 were huge wastes of money. Are there any games you want to play on it that aren't already out for some other system that you might already have?

I'd say for $40.00 you can't go wrong...

Only buy it if you can get a bunch of great games in the near future. The DC had a lot of great games, but they were too sparse/small for me to have much interest, letalone money and time, to get. If you can get about 10 games right now or relatively soon, go for it.

Definitely, the Dreamcast is a great system. I've been playing the heck out of mine the last couple of days. Check EB for games, they just repriced NHL 2K2 and Tennis 2K2, got NHL for $9.99 and Tennis for $24.99 CAD brand new! You never know when someone will trade in some of their old DC games, so check often.

It's worth $40 if but for the fact that you only get to savor Shenmue, which is one of the greatest games I have ever played. [IMG]
Damn Micro$oft and Sega for depriving me of Shenmue II [IMG]

I'm going to have to agree with most of the other people in this thread. For $40 dollars, you'll be getting one of the best gaming systems around. Soul Calibur is still one of the best playing fighting games that you can get your hands on. Heck, you could probably find it for less than $10 bucks at most places.
Add MSR to the list of games that you could pick up. If you think you'd like Project Gotham racing for the Xbox, then you'd like MSR.

    I'd definitely get it.

I put my Dreamcast out of my HT for about the past year and last week hooked it up via the VGA adapter with my KVM switch on my office setup. Holy!!! I'm playing my DC more than ever - it looks great on a 19" monitor!!! Crazy Taxi is alive again!!!!

Definitely worth 40 - add a VGA adapter and play it in all its glory (I think it looks as good as a PS2, but that just my opinion.)

BTW, my local GameStop has Shenmue II for full $50. Check FuncoLand and GameStops for stuff like that.

I can't wait for SC2 at this point. I just have no idea which system that I'll get it for. I can't picture the graphics being radically different on the three platforms. I just hope that the control is just as good as it was on the DC. I've got to start practicing with Kilik again. [IMG]
