Dreamcast noise? (1 Viewer)

I am posting this question because I just bought a used Dreamcast and wonder if I should take it back. It makes these strange high pitch noises while the game is playing at certain points, possibly like it is reading the disc. However it is not that hiss type noise like the disc is spinning...much like you hear from playstation or from a cd player. This noise is higher and more distinct and can be heard even when the volume is kind of high. Is this common, meaning does the Dreamcast do this even when it is working correctly or do I have a bad one?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Yup, the GDROM is *very* noisy. It's got a funny dual streaming system in it, and it makes frequent moves around the disk causing that noise. The likes of Soul Calibur & Alone in the Dark are VERY noisy indeed.

You guys haven't heard my Xbox obviously. I think it's going to make a trip to the Xbox service center soon.
